Persistence of Force-Resize dimensions #197

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Would it be possible for the app to remember the terminal dimensions when
they're set by the user via the "Force Size" menu option?

To allow room for the soft keyboard in landscape orientation, I need to set
the height to 8 lines. It's great that this is possible at all, but it
would be perfect if I didn't need to set the size every time I logged in.

If they could be saved in either the general or host-specific setting, that
would be fantastic.

This needs to happen. ConnectBot is a fantastic program, but I have some
systems I
use with console applications that require at least 80x24. Not having to
manually
reset this every time would make ConnectBot a lot more pleasant to use.

It would also be handy to be able to have one set of forced dimensions for
landscape
and another for portrait; I find I can get an 81x36 terminal in portrait with
a tiny
font size and an 80xsomething terminal in landscape with a larger font, but I
have to
manually change the number of lines whenever I toggle between landscape and
portrait.

I use the HTC Dinc and the portrait mode works perfectly when set to 80x35 and
full-screen. It would be EXTREMELY nice to be able to set the globally (for all
sessions) or at least save it to the session configurations.

First i thoght it was a bug, that the force size dimensions are not stored, but
then i found this issue page. This totally HAS to be persistent! (maybe set in
the host configuration?)

Another cool feature regarding to the “terminal size” would be, if it
reduces or expands if the on screen keyboard is visible or not.

My first thought was persistence too, but you will find that the auto-sizing
works great when you aren't full screen, so that just needs to work in full
screen mode. I don't see much value to persistence.

Same here, just installed the Hacker's Keyboard from the market, really nice
with ConnectBot but resizing manually is a pain :(

you'll never get any help with this. they have no desire what-so-ever to fix
any landscape + softkeyboard issue. you should not have to resize. it should
be automatic. but i get nonsense about it being a framework issue yet works
with hackers keyboard. unfortunately the direction connectbot is going is all
tablet + hard keyboards, which defeats the whole purpose.

oh well.. maybe term emulator will improve.
