Shell Re-Run Results in LT Command Failures #163

When using the Shell, an abort causes subsequent runs to fail from LT command errors.

Apparently the connection ref can go bad even though it still tests as a valid ref. I added a dummy command test to detect failures and trigger a re-connect. This seems to have cleared up the problem.
