CHAPTER1 INTRODUCTION 1.0 This research was carried out because there are several improvements that should be made to the normal booking method which will benefit the Machakos stadium management team saving them money as well as the customers ,the fans who will find it easier to purchase and use their tickets leading to a more enjoyable match experience and frequently more visits to the stadium. The Machakos stadium management team is responsible for day to day management and running of the stadium .Purchasing tickets in person is by far the easiest way to purchase tickets, however fans live outside the area ,or cannot get down to the stadium in advance to purchase tickets due to work . This results in large queues at the ticket office on a match day. to ease the booking there is need for a web based software system to create a reliable and easy to use web based system which will simplify the reservation process. 1.1:THEORITICAL BACKGROUND With the development of sports ,problems have risen in the infrastructure of sports facilities and techniques used in the management of these facilities .In this project ,i will find the solutions to the problems facing the management of Machakos stadium through the development of a stadium reservation system. This system will find accurate statistics every match ,in terms of number of the audience each match and the number of audience in every championship and the financial revenues generated from the sale of the tickets .

**1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM. Stadium managers have the problem of bookings seats for a game or group of games .Thee manual way of acquiring tickets may not be effective considering the fact that counterfeits can be produced and be sold to unsuspecting spectators.

1.3 AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The aim of the study is to develop a seat reservation system for Machakos stadium that will help in the : Facilitate easy booking and management of ticket based on available seats . To provide a secure system for issuing tickets . To develop a system that will help prevent overcrowding of the stadium. 1.4 :SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

With the introduction of an automated system : The following will be achieved : The system is automated so it becomes a quick access to the required information . Decision support and information availability required by the administration because it is able to generate reports instantly, making it simple for the stadium managers to make decisions . Electronic security is maintained as the fans ,stuff management are able to login and access the system depending on the their desires . 1.5 JUSTIFICATION

With the increased shortage of such systems, many people will be in need of an efficient and reliable system for acquiring their tickets. Given the security situations ,many customers tend to trust technology more than people, so there is need for such a system. This system reduces also the time used in acquiring tickets normally in the stadium

1.6SCOPE OF THE STUDY This study will save stadium management time and money. It will speed up the booking process The level of accuracy will be higher Report generation for management decision is enabled

1.7LIMITATIONS OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM . Only booking features ,payment features ,customer database and ticket confirmation features will be available in the design. To access the system ,one will have to use the internet and we all know that the internet costs money. Secondly, only 40% can be able to browse and access the system thus the remaining percentage will be limited from this system.

1.8: PROJECT RISK AND MITIGATION Most of the users trying to access the system may have difficulties in internet in that some do not have money to purchase the data to be used. Without the advertisement money and proper training of the users ,the users will not know about the existence of my system.
