This actually gets a bit complex. A 3-year grant, if calculated annually, has a different net value for year 1 (in which application costs would most likely be accounted) vs years 2 and 3. So it may in fact make more sense to use the life of the grant rather than annual results.
Either way, we need to make results clear and specify how the length of the grant is used in the calculations.
