CurseForge export format #3707

Role

I use it to play/make modded minecraft packs

Suggestion

Export modpacks in curseforge's format

Benefit

So I can make modpacks on multimc instead of using 2 launchers

This suggestion is unique

I have searched the issue tracker and did not find an issue describing my suggestion, especially not one that has been rejected.

To do that you need access to the Curse API.

Not going to happen.

Duplicate of https://github.com/MultiMC/MultiMC5/issues/3422

And many others.

peterix commented 3 years ago

Not necessarily. You can put everything in the overrides and it should still be a valid pack archive.

But that's a bit dirty and probably not something you want to submit to curse.

peterix commented 3 years ago

This one is possible IF we have an independent mod metadata archive that also tracks curse mod coordinates (project and file IDs).

peterix commented 3 years ago

Let's keep it open.

(this may take years)

Actually it will be rejected. If the mod is already on curse and you include it in overrides it will get rejected. Already tried it before lol.

There is a spreadsheet around that outlines which mods are allowed in overrides (cbf'ed to find it to supply the URL) https://support.curseforge.com/en/support/solutions/articles/9000197908-exporting-a-modpack-for-curseforge-project-submission#article-body:~:text=Override%20mods%20must%20meet%20the%20following%20requirements
