Hi. I sent some BTC using MultiBit HD and I get this message:

Low spendable balance detected. some of your bitcoins are tied up with ongoing transactions

Details of my transaction are:

Status: X Waiting for feedback about this transaction from the Bitcoin network
Type: Sending
Transaction ID: 19426f53d27b06918b874a4e34e467af7dd0e7278587746c04a7396d43ecd6e6
Status message: This transaction did not pay bitcoins to any payment request

Please, what happened? I have lost my BTCs? The receiver has not received the BTCs that I have sent to him. My wallet no longer has the value that I have sent.

Please, your comments and help to understand.

Thanks.

Gustavo

@excepticons I've looked up your transaction on blockchain.info and I think your fee is probably to low (12sat/byte) thats why is isn't comming through . I don't know if Multibit allows you to raise the fee afterwards like Electrum does, but that should fix your stuck transaction.

Sites like https://bitcoinfees.21.co can give you a rough estimate of the fee to use so transactions won't get stuck.

I looked up your transaction and it looks like you're not going to see the coin anytime soon and will need to wait for bitcoin to stop trading so much.

shows Total Inputs 0.00328895 BTC Total Outputs 0.00308895 BTC Fee 0.00020000 BTC Fee / KB 0.00012853 BTC Size 1,556 bytes Estimated Change 0.00008895 BTC

https://btc.com/ is currently showing the current best transaction fees to be 0.00308 BTC/KB

Sorry but I think you should create a new wallet and deposit more money if you need to send coin soon. Also choose a wallet that automatically calculates transaction fees so you don't end up in the same situation again.

exodus is a nice looking wallet that calculates fees for you but I haven't used it beyond installing it. (my coin is tied up by two small stupid transactions) https://www.exodus.io/

@jeffcirceo There are ways of speeding up stuck transactions and some wallets will do this for you (Electrum for example).

jeffcirceo commented 7 years ago

@WeaverTL can you point me towards anything online on how to speed up a stuck transaction? I've downloaded and installed Electrum and am playing with wallet restore ideas from multibit and not getting anywhere.

I don't have any experience with with speeding up transactions myself, Electrum has always taken care of that for me. This article however does seem to cover it quite extensively [https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/what-to-do-if-your-bitcoin-transaction-gets-stuck-1481042383/]
