Bug report Operating System: Windows 10 MultiBit Classic Version: Now 0.5.19, was 0.5.18 Steps to replicate the problem: Import key into new wallet, simultaneously open old wallet w/ same key

Hello, I did a fresh install of Windows 10. When I installed MultiBit and opened it, my old wallet was not there, so I started importing my old private key into the sample new wallet in MultiBit. I then remembered (while the key was being imported) that I had a backup of the old wallet itself. Unfortunately, I tried to simultaneously open the old wallet. MultiBit kind of locked up, but then both wallets started showing Bitcoins. They both had the SAME private key.

Now my wallet only shows about half of the Bitcoins I originally had. I have tried several block chain resets with no improvement. I deinstalled MultiBit and reinstalled the later version. No change. The sample empty wallet with the same private key is no longer available.

Thanks in advance for any pointers on what I can do about this.

I would: 1) Close the other wallets in MultiBit 2) Create a new one 3) Import your private key 4) Let it sync and not do anything else until it had.

Alternatively you could import the private key into something like blockchain.info - that might be quicker.
