This is too much content. We could be getting the apprentices to do research/tasks here rather than defining the whole lifecycle
I quite like the idea of communication in teams here. Is there an argument to say that this whole unit should just focus on this? There would no doubt be some nice conversation/discussion from this
In general, let's not cram the unit full of SDLC info the apprentices will just forget. It shouldn't be a tick box exercise to cover the spec. I would also hope that apprentices would use the SDLC in their business so we don't have to define the whole thing and try and replicate the original mod3
Comments on 3.1.1.
Currently the SDLC lesson includes everything from the old Mod 3 (BCS exam), some of which is out of date in terms of the wording etc. Also it doesn't mention Agile.
I would like to make it more applicable to modern Agile development as well as provide some history on Waterfall etc. I rewrote part of the old Mod 3 notes a few weeks back to prepare for my delivery, I found some good new You Tube videos and redid some of the diagrams so they weren't copyrighted. I also incorporated videos from AWS e.g. https://multiverselearningproducts.github.io/swe/mod3/wk1/day3.html#javascript which my cohort loved watching.

Again these roles are very BCS exam focussed and don't reflect reality of modern Agile teams. I'd like to update this with the roles for Agile & non-Agile teams, include videos of people describing their roles e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEOCo7mYYuA and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CxXhyhT6Fc etc. and use the assignment which I got my team to do which was to find job ads for all these roles and look at the salaries etc - they loved this!
Comments on 3.1.3 As a starter for the day I'd like them to watch this click of problem solving on Apollo 13 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d014W6sjEgE and include some discussions around problem solving generally and how working together can solve those big issues!
I'd like to make the day more interactive i.e rework the lesson to include the following activities:
