No idea what pin is pin one on the UDB4 - PIC UAV Development Board #52

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to connect the MPLAB PICkit 3 to the UDB 4?
2. Nice photo of UDB 4 board on sparkfun with absolutely NO clue as to what is
pin 1 and what is pin 6.
3. Finds pic kit but does not find udb 4

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would like to see the correct pinout to connect the pickit to the dev board.
The current pdf document says the cable only goes one way, but there is no
connector, only pins soldered.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest version of udb 4, mplab 8.70 because the lates version does not work
with the directory structure.

Please provide any additional information below.

Update:

Using the PICKit 3 to power the UDB 4 board returned an error code as follows:

(For the UDB4 I selected :- dsPIC33FJ256GP710A)

PICkit 3 detected
Connecting to PICkit 3...
Firmware Suite Version...... 01.28.02
Firmware type......................dsPIC33F/24F/24H
PICkit 3 Connected.
PK3Err0045: You must connect to a target device to use PICkit
3.
Target Device ID (00070000) does not match expected Device
ID (07ff0000).

The UDB4 Quick START GUIDE-4.pdf usurping UDB4 Quick START GUIDE.pdf showed at
how to connect the PICkit 3, thus pin 1 can be inferred.

UDB4 Quick START GUIDE-4.pdf solved the issue with the attachement of the
PICkit, I was reading UDB4 Quick START GUIDE.pdf.

As far as the Device error, sparkfun determined it was a defective board and
replaced it.

Not a software defect. Strictly a forum issue.

Recommend clearer pin 1 marking for future versions
Fix with better wiki documentation
