Feature request: batch line removal #169

I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented or even requested before, but here it
is.

Please add a way to mass remove the subtitle lines based on some search
criteria.

Sometimes when dealing with subtitles, one can see some recurring errors
following the same pattern. Recently i downloaded a subtitle file that was full
of lines like "<i>H'</i>", it's like Darth Vader's breath, but subtitled.
Unfortunately, there's no way to remove all such lines with a single operation.
Mass Replace dialog gives you a way to alter the text but not kill the lines
completely.

It would be awesome if you could add that option to the Mass Replace dialog. It
fits there perfectly: one can use multiple search criteria at once, and there's
a list of lines matching them which can be further modified by selecting or
de-selecting particular lines. So a button like "Delete selected lines from
subtitle" wouldn't hurt anyone, would it? ;)

Thanks in advance! And thanks for the awesome subtitle editor too =).

This will be available though another feature in SE 3.8.9: Edit -> modify
selection

You can test if the svn version or this portable beta version:

Checked that portable version you supplied, and it kind of works.

But are you sure that's the most usable approach possible? I mean, it's not
that intuitive. I, for one, would rather follow the Replace routine if i were
to be looking for a way to mass remove something.
I admit there's a point in implementing it via the custom line selection
mechanism, that way one could not only remove lines but also copy-paste them.
But if there are no other operations one could perform on line selections, then
maybe there's a reason to make it work via the Replace dialog too.

On the other hand, the way you currently have it implemented might be just
fine, but if the Modify Selection dialog were not modal. It is only natural to
want to select/deselect something manually in addition to what the dialog
operations had selected. And also to be able to operate the selection without
closing the dialog.
What do you think about that?

Can you add this to the 'Batch Convert' menu?

SE has moved to GitHub - please re-add this issue at GitHub if it's still
important :)
