Using the Environment #23

So, in talking about making this a very organic game to immerse people further (and set it away from all other games like this), is the idea of using the environment. One idea raised was that because humans are not yet fully in control of magic, so they use the environment a lot to use their powers. Like, they use a torch or flint and tinder to create fireballs, or like the levitating and shooting weapons thing to use for attacks. Which also takes care of the Magic Points thing. Instead of having a pool of Magic Points, you have a limited amount of physical resources which you can use to cast spells.

We can also use this for the other classes by having certain things in the environment that could be interacted with by the other classes to help sway the outcome in a battle in your favor, such as chopping down a chandelier and the like.

at the point that we are telling this story from, based on our initial chats, it's 100+ years after the Venrok came that we are starting the game. I think the humans would be pretty in control by then. Also, I think that is far too much detail to try to add to the gameplay. I wouldn't want to have to get flint to cast a fireball.

I guess I could see this as a limitation on power where we let them move flame. Like take the flame from a torch and throw it because they simply can't create their own. But overall I like the simple idea of "they have had this for a while now and, for the most part, know how to use it".
