Why use dhcpcd/avahi? What is the advantage against interfaces.d?

I was facing issue with avahi. My Pi Zero W wasn't advertised on EEM interface, and thus I wasn't able to use rpi-zerow.local name. When looking to interfaces file in /etc/network, they indicates that interface definition must be done in dhcpcd.conf. So I tried and dhcpcd seems to be tightly linked to avahi and name broadcasting was working fine.

EDIT : take what you want from my repo, I'm making a different usage so there my be useless stuff for you.
