Please Help Wrong Address or Double Account? #360

**Hello I dont know if I can get help here. I apologize if this is the wrong area.

What info can I provide to get help?

I dont know what to do. I dont know if my coins are in limbo elsewhere or is there a possible double account with a different address??**

  1. I signed up for a myetherwallet.

  2. I withdrew my Eth Tokens from the Chronobank.io site to myetherwallet.

  3. I look at myetherwallet address and it shows a different deposit address than the deposit address on myetherwallet. Balance zero...

4. I have never made an Eth wallet until 6 days ago which was the myetherwallet.

  1. I checked on my PC for any other UTC/Json file with no luck. Just the same file.

  2. I checked every account I have used for btc and others etc... No Luck.

  3. I contacted Chronobank Support after some suggestions. No Luck

  4. I emailed Help at myetherwallet and no response.

I honestly have no idea where the Deposit address came from.
Is there a way to verify if Deposit address that shows is a myetherwallet address??

Hi @imrockin,

I'm not super familiar with the Chronobank / deposit situation so I don't know how much help I will be either. When you created the wallet it would have given you your UTC file and shown your address. The address is also inside the UTC file.

I'm not sure where the deposit address came from or how you got it to Chronobank, but if you copied it from MEW when you created the wallet, it would be the same as the address shown to you when you unlocked the wallet.

The only thing that could have happened is you generated a wallet and copied that address and then generated a new address or something?

I look at myetherwallet address and it shows a different deposit address than the deposit address on myetherwallet. Balance zero...

This also makes no sense to me. We only show 1 address on MEW and it's just call your "Address" or "Account Address". It's never labeled as "Deposit Address".

Thanks for your reply. Im still trying to figure this out. The strange thing is I never created a eth wallet until the day i opened a Mew just for this purpose.

I do have the Utc file and the printout as well. Im still really puzzled.

I can put the withdrawl address here if its ok if anyone wants to try to help me out and even the Tx ID.

I cant figure out where it is. I dont want to lose these forever. I keep hoping i overlooked something but no recall or record that i can find that has that address or where it came from. Is it a Mew address???

Sure, post the address here. Just not the private key or UTC file. 😄

Where did the deposit address come from? Is that a Chronobank thing?

yeah it was an ico at chronobank that i got into. I withdrew them out of chronobank to put in Mew that I created that same day. Then when i logged into my Chronobank Dashboard I noticed the address did not match up to my Mew so I was freaking out and I looked at every file and every account that I even have. I cant find this address.

Omg, when i go to Mew and go to view with address only I see them!! but is that someone elses wallet? I did not create that icon profile. What is going on

Im really confused. I can see them when i go to Mew and put in view by address only. but how do i unlock this?

Because when I put in my private key it looks like its unlocking a different Mew other than the one I see a balance in.

Try searching your entire computer for "4682e3DA4AA62e69656c3Fe85262202C3a53F0E6"

Note the lack of 0x at the beginning of the string

when I click on the link transaction history why is there no history??

I doubt your wallet was hacked as you are saying that the privte key / keystore / UTC file you saved does not match the address that you put as a deposit address. In other words, you do not have the private key to access the 0x4682e3DA4AA62e69656c3Fe85262202C3a53F0E6 account.

In order to access that address, you need the private key for that address. I'm trying to determine where it could be based on what you have told me so far

Thats correct what you are saying. I have a private key for the ad05 account and it shows zero balance. When i put in my private key its like it goes to another account and the icon is blue at the top instead of that gree purple icon.

I have no idea how this happened.

I think I just got to your email (I'm making my way through a backlog of 130 emails at the moment)

I even got the confirmation of the creation of the wallet and also a confirmation that my address has changed. I followed the steps within a minute of each other. The emails are within one minute of each other.

Who sent you this confirmation? Was it Chronobank? Where did they have you create the wallet? On MyEtherWallet.com?

Also, did you happen to save the printed version of your private key or anything?

yes that was from chronobank that sent me those confirmations. They recommended Mew also parity and couple others but said Mew is a good choice.

I have a printed version of my private key yes and the address. Its not the one that shows the balance unfortunately.

I searched my whole PC for the key. Nothing shows. This really sucks. I cant believe this happened.

Hey rockin, exact same problem here. The public key from the registration is different to the key, which is shown after the login. Didn't find a solution either

hello, so we both have the same exact problem.  I didnt make another extra key.  I only created 1 account.  I really am wondering if it is some type of glitch.  Did you notify anyone in the github forum? I am puzzled as heck, and I dont want to lose my coins forever.   If i put the withdrawl address into the MEW under View address only, I can see my coins sitting there but I dont have access to them. Let me know if u get any solution please.  or just hire an ethical hacker to get help?

When you say registration? Are you referring to the chronobank ico registration or actually generating a wallet? and what browser are you using?

Can you also check the chronobank address confirmation email? And see whether that address and the address they sent tokens to match

Yes I meant register with MEW i believe.   I got the confirmation email from Chronobank it is as follows on Feb 24th Please confirm your Ethereum withdrawal address by following the link below https://chronobank.io/confirmaddress/0b21e1f346b85ce683eb21d7c8e46b2819ae5bf8c734e7963e5eb3294af43fd9ef66586a0d Then after I confirmed, I got another confirmation email from Chrono that my address has changed.So i figured ok, I should be able to see my Time Tokens..

When you followed the link, do you remember which address it showed? Also if you can let us know your browser it'll help to debug

I honestly dont.  I just clicked the link.  I just remember cut and pasting the address for my MEW wallet for a deposit into it.Then when I looked i was confused why they didnt show.  Then noticed why is the address different. I never had a MEW wallet until that day to create one just for the Time Tokens.My pc has no record of the address  0x4682e3DA4AA62e69656c3Fe85262202C3a53F0E6 My MEW is totally different.  I dont know how this is possible to happen.  If i vew that address only i see my Time tokens.

Good day! I have the same situation. Created wallet. Copied account. Translated ETH . The money came partner gave the report. Go to your wallet there is no money and the score changed . The first time I created a wallet. Technical support is silent after clarifying the problem . Please help to return the money.

In this purse was an excessive number of people from Russia \ Ukraine report similar problems. How much money hanged on accounts simply can not be transferred. This purse on the basis of ETH changes addresses, you need to constantly check the address of the wallet

Did any of you guys OPEN your keystore file and COPY a string of text out of your keystore file and use that string instead of the text as the private key? Bc I just found 2 people's eth today by doing that.

The file does NOT have an extension for a reason. It should not be opened. You only access it on MyEtherWallet or geth or Mist.

YOU ACCESS YOUR WALLET WHEN YOU GENERATE. YOU ACCESS YOUR WALLET TO SEND. SURPRISE. THAT CODE IS LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME CODE. THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY YOU DO THE EXACT SAME THING TWICE AND ACHIEVE DIFFERENT RESULTS. IT'S PREPOSTEROUS.

We have asked around Russian communities for reports. We have vpn'd in and used every search engine to see if there were phishing ads. We've googled for keywords on our site and found every other fork of our site. We've looked through the logs to see if there is a common referrer that's accessing our api that could be a phishing site.

And not one of you are able to definitively say where you created this wallet, what files you saved, what site you were on, which wallet types you are accessing then, what wallet you are accessing now.

At some point you need to help us help you. Tell me the entire story about how you created this wallet. Every single detail as specifically and accurately as possible. Show me your browser history. Tell me the other sites you have been accessing. Tell me what you were doing when you generated the wallet. Tell me how many wallets you generated. Your OS. Your browser. Why you generated a wallet. Where you sent ETH from. Where you sent ETH to. If you ever accessed the correct wallet. If you downloaded any programs related to crypto / ethereum. What faucets you visit. What mining pools you mine. What ETH forums / communities you are part of. How you heard of MyEtherWallet. What token sales you participate in. E V E R Y T H I N G!

And when you all do this we will see a pattern and that will be how / where / why this is happening.

Hello, Well I checked again today just to see if the time tokens are still there in my MEW...  

1.  View Wallet Info

  1. VIew by Address only

  2. My tokens are stuck here.   0x4682e3DA4AA62e69656c3Fe85262202C3a53F0E6

  3. I have no record of that address when I created MEW. 

  4. I have my JSON and its a different address. 6.  I have searched my whole PC for the Deposit Token Address and there is no record.

7.   If you have a private email I can send you my chronobank login details you can see where it went.  Also I can show u the JSON file that is not a match... I opened MEW using Firefox months ago.

What other action or solution is even left?   I only made 1 MEW account.  It was the first time I ever made one. Thank you Terry

Какие другие действия или решение еще осталось? Я только сделал 1 MEW счет. Это был первый раз , когда я сделал один. Спасибо Терри

Мы смотрели через журналы , чтобы увидеть , если есть общая реферер , который доступ к нашему API , который может быть фишинг - сайтом. И не один из вас в состоянии окончательно сказать , где вы создали этот бумажник, какие файлы вы сохранили, какой сайт вы были на, какие тип бумажника вы обращаетесь тогда, что бумажник вы обращаетесь в настоящее время. В какой - то момент вы должны помочь нам помочь вам. Скажите мне всю историю о том , как вы создали этот бумажник. Каждая деталь , как конкретно и точно , насколько это возможно.

Hey, There are multiple ways to enter your account. When I use the UTC file + password I seem to go to a different adress then when I use the ciphertext (which is in the UTC file). So try opening the UTC file with notepad, and copy the part after "Crypto":{"ciphertext":" and paste it into the ''Paste/Type Your Private Key'' section on myetherwallet site. That might bring you to the right adress.

it all have been tried. On different computers I created wallets, there were no problems. I have a Sony Vaio laptop and he gave me the wrong address. I made a wallet on myetherwallet.com. I have two "UTC file" . "ciphertext" сompletely different. I insert in the field "Insert / enter your secret key" all that is, very different addresses are opened I need the account, it does not open

If you hand typed your private key at any time, go here, scroll to teh very bottom, and enter your private key and the address you sent to and see if it finds it.

Hello, Im still having issue. So my tokens were somehow sent to this address that I do not have the private key for:  0x4682e3DA4AA62e69656c3Fe85262202C3a53F0E6 If I go to MEW and click View address only,  I see my Time Tokens still sitting in there. I cannot access them.

Now when I use my UTC/JSON to unlock I get access to this MEW wallet address: 0xe6D0c27C52B578D44D7744BA78ab2d4a7A64AD05with my private key also. This one shows zero Time Tokens.

I think it is a problem in Sony Vaio computers. Try to open your wallet in another computer. A friend of mine solved this issue opening his wallet in his desktop.

I have the same problem myself!!! Send TRX to wrong MEW address, and I'll share the short version and need help too. I tried accessing my MEW by typing in my private key (stupid for not copying/pasting), made an error in the private key and took me to a whole different address. I didn't bother to check if i was in the right wallet bc first time noob at this and just assumed. From that wallet i copied/pasted that address (dumby) and used that address to send my TRX from Binance to that MEW address. Waited for a couple of hours, and tried accessing my actual wallet via UTC file after watching a youtube on how to open MEWS via file. Looked to see there was no tokens, then spent the next couple of hours trying to see where it went and I found the address and have been modifying my private key to see if it matches on the site: https://www.myetherwallet.com/helpers.html

Are my tokens as good as gone? If someone could help me that'd help. I'm new to this GIThub thing and don't know how to start my own thread, so sorry for stealing this guy's spotlight on his problem.

also the MEW ---access wallet by private key has a security flaw if you can access different wallets by modifying your private key...i'm able to go into different wallets by changing my private key just slightly to a point it is still valid. i'm not sure these wallets belong to anyone...thanks for the help

The problem happened for my friend aswell, but he managed to get it back. The problem was that he had written down the wrong private key, so he switched an 'a' with a '9'. To the people experiencing these problems; try to brute-force hack different variations of your private key.

Same here. Already posted here a few months ago. I‘ce lost 5 ETH and the support wouldn‘t help me. The exact same problem a mentioned above. Still have the private key in case there will be a solution for this

Hi guys,

I had exactly the same problem. Made a new MEW account couple of weeks ago. Generated the adress with the private key and wrote everything down. Transferred tokens to the adress, to find out later the private key opens another ethereum adress!?

I just found out that the adress I wrote down belongs to the Metamask account. Turns out my funds were there. I don't understand how this happened, but you guys might want to look in your browser extension.

hey guys had a similar problem. new MEW account, sent coins from exchange, after entering wallet I saw a different address. tried json, but didn't accept the password. after panicking, what I did is, instead of copying private key from usb/computer, I typed it and it worked. it's the exact same string of letters/numbers on usb and paper, weirdly, the problem was copying/usb/who knows.

After all this time my Time tokens are still in this other wallet I have no idea how the heck they got in there. The day I created a myetherwallet is when all this happened in Feb 25th 2017. For some reason my Time tokens are in a different Myetherwallet address.  The JSON file I have is to a different Myetherwallet address, the one I created.

Still somehow they magically end up in another address I have never created and I can see my Time Tokens still there 9 Months later.... Have u tried the mew helpers that is linked above? Enter ur private key in top box the public address the tokens have ended up in the second box click the wee button and if luck is on ur side the correct private key to unlock your tokens will be revealed underneath. Will be a very similar version of ur true private key probably with a typo. Let me know how u get on and feel free to send a thanks my way T ☺

I tried the mew helpers.  The private key is exactly the same.  This is still unsolved for me, not sure what else to do. All I know is from the very beginning when I first got the wallet my Time tokens never showed up and somehow found them in some other wallet I never created. The same thing happened to me today. I was sending EOS from Binance to my newly created MEW and then when I went back to MEW there was a different adress showing. My tokens are at this address: 0xE6261435cF81EE96830a704d70F1FC885C855FB4 And my JSON file and private key takes me to this address: 0x9C67Ce166c5aF4aF8DCd76f837F3556D81d89204 If there is a solution for this I'd be very thankful.

Can you also list the full process you used to attain the address you sent the EOS to?

@wparad yes, I don't find the string on my computer and there are no matches on the "helpers" page. I tried the code solution, it ends by saying missing chars: 0 and asks for a new command. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. When I got the address I logged into MEW with the Private key-option and copied the address from the Your address-field and then pasted it on Binance.
