After a failed attempt to access this remotely, I see that the browser javascript has 'localhost:5000' hard coded.

Is this only intended to be run locally?

Yes, at least at this point. The time to send clips made this difficult to use online for systems with slow upload bandwidth, so this approach made more sense.
