Food manufacturers are required by law (see here) to provide allergens on the food ingredients. Is the issue for the user to provide a list of things they have allergic reactions to to the pantry so that the pantry filters the order for the user, or for the application to provide a list of common allergens present so that the user can make educated decisions and avoid things they are allergic to?
I believe we were leaning towards the former. I thought of it like the comment section you sometimes see on receipts for online orders at restaurants. A sort of special requests field.

This would be on the cart view page and would be an optional field with a limited number of characters. The input here would be shown in the email that's sent to the volunteers.
