Description

We would like to collect various metrics on the indexing process so that we can identify bottlenecks and report improvements.

Implementation Considerations

Some data may not be collected yet; so we might need to add fields to the database so we have the raw data for the metrics
We need a design doc that describes each metric we want to collect
