A near real time HLS product from SNWG Cycle 4 solution recently passed budget appropriations. This involves producing HLS data at a much lower latency (4-6 hr) compared to existing HLS products (2-4 days). A critical step in HLS processing that prevents faster data production is the atmospheric correction step which depends on ancillary data from external sources. However, it may be possible to reduce latency from internal HLS processing, therefore, we need to investigate ways to reduce latency internally (e.g., SPOT market interruptions).
