Context

There are multiple efforts that will have sub-daily imagery. These include:

These datasets might have consistently sub-daily (every day has more than one data point) or inconsistently sub-daily (only some days have more than one data point)

Acceptance Criteria

@freitagb @jerikac Who would be good people to work with to start gathering details/requirements for this work?

freitagb commented 3 months ago

@siddharth0248 would be a good person to start given his familiarity with the data

Sid and I discussed sub-daily imagery last week, and I walked away understanding a few things:

  1. For the most part, users want to visualize data, they don't need to generate time-series or other statistics.
  2. They don't want to compare with other datasets, especially if those datasets don't have the same temporal resolution.
  3. The use cases we know about are either events (EMIT) or model outputs based on in-situ or satellite data that are run multiple times per day.
  4. It is valuable for us to effectively view sub-daily imagery in data stories and more curated areas of the app (like topics pages, etc)

I'd like to go over these assumptions with @freitagb @deborahUAH and others with knowledge on this topic. This will help us design the best solution.

Our current assumption, though, is that this will live somewhere outside of the current E&A page
