Thank you to those of you who attended and engaged with us during our Virtual EMIT Methane Plume Workshop on March 14,2024; we hope you found it beneficial. If you would like to revisit any of the content, or if you were unable to attend, the workshop recording is now available. Please feel free to contribute back to the code repository, ask questions, join the EMIT slack community, read more about EMIT, and check out the US Greenhouse Gas center and stay engaged.
The two Python Jupyter notebooks used during the workshop demonstrating how to work with EMIT methane data products (EMITL2BCH4ENH v001 and EMITL2BCH4PLM v001) are available in the EMIT-Data-Resources Repository. To work through these notebooks you will need to clone the entire repository. For more information on the derivation of the methane enhancement product (EMITL2BCH4ENH v001), please review the algorithm theoretical basis document, and the repositories available in the emit-sds.
- Generating a Methane Spectral Fingerprint, which visualizes the difference of a pixel where methane is present versus one where there is no methane.
- Visualizing Methane Plume Timeseries, which works through the process of building a timeseries of plumes identified from the same source and calculates the mass of methane present in each plume.
