SDSS #215

This isn't really an issue, but rather a show of interest.

Way back in the early days of WorldWind there was an option to scroll, swipe and zoom across the universe... ever since this is a thing of the past there has -to my knowledge- not been a solution that is comparable.

I find this pretty sad, younger me has spend days upon days looking at galaxies until the coin dropped that probably most of all the faint dots are galaxies as well.

If there is anyone still thinking of SDSS, I'd very much like to see it return in WorldWind!

Hi @sfjuocekr. Although I've heard of WorldWind's integration of Sloan Digital Sky Survey in the old .NET version, I never saw it running, nor I've found a video of it or something. The .NET version can still be downloaded here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/nasa-exp/files/World%20Wind%20.NET/

It runs, but the services that fed it have been taken offline.

Have you checked out these projects? https://celestia.space/ (open source) http://spaceengine.org/ (versions 0.9.8.0 and older are free to use)

I've known those for a while, but what the old SDSS addon did was put all the data into one plane you could scroll through.

It was amazingly intuitive to scroll through it like that, just pick a spot and zoom in on hope there was some data available.
