One ASD data file, /glade/derecho/scratch/kkchandr/ASD_sample_data/cm1out_s_000022.nc, fails to be converted to VDC format.

Pablo Mininni also reported a failure when converting raw data to VDC, but there's not a sample data set provided yet.
