Runs 020 (+ cam_dev, #153 ) and 021 (+ cam_dev +no_leak_topo, #155 ) appear to be staying in the "pack" of acceptable runs. I suggest letting them run out to 50 years. If @gustavo-marques diagnoses sufficient Lab Sea/N Atlantic convection in 020 and 021 we have two atmosphere mods left to test (see discussion #154) : 1) L32==> L58 and 2) B1850==>BWsc1850.

I'd suggest we just start two new coupled runs at the same time with these changes.

The surface fluxes in the Lab Sea region seem pretty reasonable so far as well: Screen Shot 2022-08-08 at 9 36 31 AM

Interestingly though, the global average SHFLX is a bit lower than the rest of the pack in both 020 and 021, as is the LWCF. I don't see that coming through in the regional plots though, so this is probably stemming from somewhere else globally (and maybe of less interest as a result). Screen Shot 2022-08-08 at 9 35 18 AM

I did a quick check with ncview and we are getting enough Lab Sea/N. Atlantic convection in 020 and 021. I agree on letting these cases run out to 50 years.

Sounds good about starting two new cases to evaluate the effects of 1) L32==> L58 and 2) B1850==>BWsc1850.

@gustavo-marques: 020 and 021 are respectively 36 years and 23 years. I will extent them to 50 years and I will start 022 and 023.

@JulioTBacmeister: please could you clarify the order you have in mind when you say: 1) L32==> L58 2) B1850==>BWsc1850

On Friday, we talked about: 022 = 021 + BWsc1850 023 = 021 + BWsc1850 + L58

020 and 021 were on hold yesterday because we had reached the account threshold but I resubmitted them.

JulioTBacmeister commented 2 years ago

021 seems OK through year 28 on the atmosphere side. @gustavo-marques would you check the convection?

Lab Sea convection looks good so far. Both, 020 and 021, are similar to 018b and 019b in terms of subpolar N. Atlantic behavior.

Gustavo beat me to the punch, but I agree both 20 and 21 look good. Here is my version of time series of ML properties in the Lab Sea. MLD_Series.LabradorSea.pdf
