@cecilehannay could you hold off on this one for a moment as I am trying to figure out something strange with my development code and the numcin sensitivity for going 2->3. It may not be in your cam_development branch but I need to check today.
I'm guessing that the effect of increasing numcin actually saturates at 2, given my SCAM tests so I am proposing to not do this simulations right now.
@PeterHjortLauritzen I can only see 1 year of numcin simulations in Cecile's run directory I think. So will have hold off on taking a look unless it can be started again.
Description:
Same as f.cam6_3_119.FLTHIST_ne30.r328_gamma0.33_soae.001 (https://github.com/NCAR/amwg_dev/issues/353) except:
The ZM scheme only allows one layer of -ve buoyancy in. a column before terminating at the convective top. This was introduced in CAM6 and generally produces too shallow convection. However, now it seems this is too limiting given the increase to L58 and the moderation of parcel buoyancy properties by the ZM2 parcel mixing changes.
The current run relaxes this limit to 3 (-ve buoyancy levels). For context, this value was 5 prior to CAM6.
