Hi @cecilehannay, just an FYI I can confirm that the reduced radius liquid runoff files you are manually setting are correctly set out of the box in cesm2_3_alpha_16g.
Thanks @adamrher. As well as the user_nl_mom
(I confirmed that with Gustavo too).
We still need MIN_SALINITY = 1.e-06
in user_nl_mom
but we no longer need MEKE_GEOMETRIC_ALPHA = 0.10
Would be interesting to see diags of 54 versus 52, as we are seeing some differences in the Arctic, which may be due to the larger dust_emissions_factor in 54.
Indeed, the ADF diagnostics of 54 versus 52 are already available. As expected, the AODDUST shows a significant decrease of the dust. https://webext.cgd.ucar.edu/BLT1850/b.e23_alpha16b.BLT1850.ne30_t232.054/atm/html_img/plot_page_AODDUST_ANN_LatLon_Mean.html
Thanks! For reference:
@slevis-lmwg or @olyson can you run LMWG diagnostics on this case.
@dlawrenncar do you want these for the CESM project meeting next week, or for a later date? BTW, the timing matters here, as if we need them for next week Sam will have to do this, otherwise, I suggest Keith do it later.
I've been running LMWG diagnostics on these coupled cases fairly regularly. In general, they can be found at: https://webext.cgd.ucar.edu/BLT1850/
For 054 in particular: https://webext.cgd.ucar.edu/BLT1850/b.e23_alpha16b.BLT1850.ne30_t232.054/lnd/b.e23_alpha16b.BLT1850.ne30_t232.054.25_44-b.cesm3_cam058_mom_e.B1850WscMOM.ne30_L58_t061.camdev_cice5.026g.25_44/setsIndex.html
Trends are through year 44. The simulation is now through year 54. I'll update the diags when I'm back in the office. The comparison for these has been to 026g, but if there is a better control case for these let me know.
I am looking for these diagnostics for the CESM Project meeting next week, ideally after the runs have gone a bit further.

@olyson you're amazing. Thanks!
@cecilehannay or @adamrher, do you have a suggestions for what case we should be comparing 054 to? Alternatively, @dlawrenncar would it be more productive to compare with an I case?
I don't know that we would have a relevant I-case that would correspond to a pre-industrial control, but I guess we could extend a spinup. That does seem like the kind of comparison we could/should be doing on a quasi-regular basis.

Diagnostics of 054 compared to a recent extended spinup (our GSWP3 control [https://github.com/NCAR/LMWG_dev/issues/1] for the dead arctic vegetation investigation [https://github.com/NCAR/LMWG_dev/discussions/3]:

thanks @olyson I'll swap out some of the slides in the deck for today's meeting
