Just updating my progress: I have begun updating instructions for pre-installed platforms (Hera, Derecho) but have been hitting a wall when I attempt to make a fresh install of spack-stack on MacOS to test that procedure. I have opened a discussion in the spack-stack repository to hopefully get some help with this.

Another update: I managed to successfully build spack-stack v 1.6.0 on MacOS, and successfully built and ran the SCM using those libraries!

I am currently working on converting the documentation to auto-build on ReadTheDocs (#418), and once that is complete will incorporate instructions there.
