This PR also includes some extra notebook cells that are specific to the NCAR cloud environment. If this seems unreasonable, I can keep the extra code on a feature branch instead of merging to main.
It also appears that the Pangeo binder service is not available, or the settings for it need changing. I appreciate any advice on how to proceed.
