A Credit Card is considered very valuable Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and should be a high priority for protection because it is many peoples primary method of paying for goods, services etc. The credit card was a massive innovation moving people away from using cash for every purchase to simply swiping a card for most purchases as it is much more convenient than carrying dollar bills around. However, with this convenience comes the risk of centralizing a portion of your purchasing power in one place and tying your identity to it. If credit card numbers are stolen by a bad actor, they can steal your money and make purchases under your name. For more information about credit cards, visit click here

Most credit card numbers are 16 digits but can be from 8 to 19 digits depending on card issuer. The first 6 digits are known as the Issuer Identification Number (IIN) which are used to identify the entity issuing the card. The rest of the digits are for personal identification of the card holder. For more information about IIN click here

I will detect a string a numbers that have a length for 12 numbers to 19 numbers. The first 1 to 6 numbers will be a IIN and the rest will be personalized for the card holder. For example test card numbers click here All possible IINs are listed here

Great overview of the Credit Card as a PII. Will this check the numbers given for validity?

This a really good overview of the issues involving credit cards. Cards are indeed important PII because this is a direct link to someone's credit score and money.
