Hey Fluffy, the problem still exists after version 93. I did the same thing. placed 4 oak logs down vertically, put 4 basic storage units on top and it took out all 8.
When i placed down just the 4 basic storage units vertically, and broke 1 with the axe, it didn't destroy them. it dropped as it should, but when stacked on top of oak logs, the axe still takes them all down. It appears there's some duping going on with the axe as well. I placed the 4 and 4, so 8 total, but when i mined it I got 11 total blocks. I did get 4 ie storage units, along with 3 oak logs and 4 oak wood (same texture on all 6 sides)
