@hdolinh I set up the original Aventri charge system for the LH courses, and we always recognized it has its shortcomings. UCSB has another payment processor (Bluefin) for credit cards, and I have set up our DataONE recharge income to use Bluefin (see screenshot below) rather than use Aventri. The advantage is that we have much more control over the order process, and can ensure that Bluefin doesn't get involved until people hit "Pay now". The disadvantage is that it requires some custom development to set up a shopping cart and keep track of who signed up for what. I'd be happy discuss the pros and cons of the different systems if you have interest.

Notes after meeting with Matt:

• Aventri is an event service software with a billing option
  • Ultimately charges us twice, when some starts a registration and when someone pays (credit card processing fee)
• Bluefin is a general purpose credit card processor
  • Must develop our own shopping cart webpage
  • PayConex is Bluefin's interface
  • May potentially need to setup a new account with UCSB Business Services
  • Only charges for the credit card processing
  • Less charges, but more upfront manual development and additional maintenance
• Decision: Wait to switch registration softwares
