Moneybee: browser-based educational ecology game #24

Jana Vamosi from the University of Calgary has proposed a simple browser-based game to illustrate current research in natural capital - the study of the real dollar value of biodiversity and sustainable land use.

The game is imagined as a simple turn-based strategy simulation, where players can modify the landscape as a honeybee farmer to generate agricultural revenue - but their choices affect the long term stability and viability of their ecosystem in ways that reflect current ecological research, and capture the consequences of monoculture, overfarming and habitat destruction.

This project is currently blank-slate, but issues to get the ball rolling have been established in the tracker at https://github.com/jvamosi/MoneyBee. We're looking for some JavaScript developers to help implement the basic mechanics of the game, and designers to help create appealing visual assets for the finished product. Another really fun aspect of this project will be coming up with some creative strategies for capturing ecological phenomena in computationally simple rules for evolving the game state.

This project sounds like fun! I'd be happy to help with JavaScript development and graphic design/illustration.

@lauren-walker awesome! I think this one will be really fun, we've got some clear ideas of how to proceed so I'm hoping (fingers crossed) for no road blocks and lots of hacking!
