The old PostgreSQL version is no longer included in the standard packages. (because the installation failed i raised the postgresql version)

Not tested with update from 3.5 to 3.6!

The default archive in CentOS Linux 8.1 (1911) doesn't include the needed version of the PostgreSQL.

So the paths and the process name (of PostgreSQL) could differ - but as you already said, if you know these circumstances you could use an older PostgreSQL version and the installation will run correctly.

Generally, I understand you completely. Maybe you'll take my suggestions into the next version :)
