App and online demo online log in issues #116

@kazlauskis Seems there maybe an issue with the log in on the app. One of the Argentinean team were able to register on the app, complete all the forms, but when pressing 'signup' nothing would happen. They also tried creating an account via the PoMS site, which seemed to work, but then unable to log-in to the app. (They have tried this both via the app itself and the demo)

I've just logged out of the online demo app and when I try and log back in nothing happens when I hit signup. Tried resetting password, that sends the email for resetting password fine, but when trying new password, again, nothing happens with hitting 'sign in'

There has been signup and login to https://fitcount.ceh.ac.uk/ in the last 24 hours. @JimChiazzese1 - the UK PoMS site registration is different. The app is linked to the FIT Count website.

JimChiazzese1 commented 2 years ago

Apologies, yes, not sure how PoMS slipped in there - should have only been reference to the app and the FIT count site.

kazlauskis commented 2 years ago

Is this in the app demo website only or in the app as well?

kazlauskis commented 2 years ago

When you register in the app, it automatically signs you in. Is this issue about the registration or sign in or both? 🙂

By the way, I could successfully create an account and login in the app demo now. Make sure that you're using a modern and up to date browser, like Chrome or Firefox when using the demo.

ok. the issue seems to be the app demo for me. I can log into the app with my jimchi@ceh.ac.uk account and into the Fit Count webpage, but the same credentials aren't working on the app demo

JimChiazzese1 commented 2 years ago

(i'm on chrome by the way...)

OK, thanks. The demo was originally not intended for other than development usage so we don't test it much. Having said this, people are using it for translations now which is convenient as translators don't need to install a Beta app in this case. I wonder if it is worth fixing it now or shall I push the Brazilian Beta out? A quick fix could be to disable a login step in the demo app so that translators don't need to register at all.

@JimChiazzese1 when you're logging in, are you using your mobile browser or is it a desktop? Maybe try both ways. Also, are you using the password manager to pre-fill the email/password for you or do you manually type it in?

JimChiazzese1 commented 2 years ago

@kazlauskis I've tried on mobile and desktop browsers, using password manage and manual entry repeatedly. I agree with your previous comment, the demo is increasingly important for users to be able to check against quickly, especially seeing the images other countries have used, so it's the best tool for help create gather new species and insect guide information. Brazil should be ready to have the beta pushed out - I haven't been able to check the last few changes to the demo app regarding the information that appears when a user first opens the app. So we could either quikcly disable the log-in so I can review those or just push the beta straight out. Depends on how long it would take to disable the log-in and get demo running again.

OK, thanks, I'll disable the login now then.
