Captions for streaming media don't display in Safari #1161

Not sure if this is something we can control, but closed captions don't display on streaming media in Safari.

Using this episode as an example: https://repository.library.northeastern.edu/files/neu:cj82qm369

The captions work just fine in Chrome and Firefox, and the CC button in the lower right corner of the frame allows the user to toggle the captions on and off:

In Safari, the captions don't display and there is no CC button:

I'm not sure if this is controlled by our configuration of Wowza or JW Player, or if one or both of those doesn't support captions in Safari.

Do we know what version of Safari this is?

I'm using version 11.0.3. Dan C. also reported this, but I'm not sure what version he's using.
