It has one, but I'm not sure how useful it would be. The documentation is pretty sparse, and the examples are all for getting data a known image, not searching. That might be somewhere undocumented, but I'm skeptical.
The use case is: as students are doing research for exhibits, some relevant items are in Commons even when there aren't any in the DPLA. If we had a way to import items from DPLA, Europeana, and Commons, that would cover a great deal of research cases. (Hopefully!)
This definitely moves us into v2.x territory, in expanding the range of sources (I see how you snuck Europeana in there! ;) ). It's worth examining, and if we go that route also delimiting what all the target sources are to get a plan on how to parse the data returned from their APIs.
Ha! I didn't knowingly sneak Europeana in there, it's something that has come up before and I assumed we'd sent the request on to you. So rather than sneaking in a request, I'm failing to keep you up to date with previous requests!
Entirely possible that I missed the Europeana request. It makes sense to figure out how to do that eventually.
I'm going to call this a low priority, and the Europeana a higher. Europeana was a specific request from the EBBDA folks.
As I'm sitting in a class talking about using DPLA images in CERES, I'm wondering: does Wikimedia Commons have an API through which we could import items?
