I've decided not to publish this tool on PyPi for easy pip installation for the time being, as a dependency to xesmf (which we use for regridding) is itself not available on PyPi. This is why the xesmfinstallation guide states that one must install the dependencies with conda even if you plan on pip installing xesmf itself. It is possible to build esmpy from source, but I'm not sure its worth supporting that workflow at the moment.
