DAIM/ DIGIT SERVER

I've been talking with Erik Sværke (UCPH-IT) about the DAIM server, which he has been into contact about with Christian Lange. The server has to be migrated to the new environment, but it's not easy, because its software is outdated etc. We need to plan to migrate this that either leaves its functionality intact (doubtful) or move it into newer systems (preferable, but which if not Specify).

We received a second inquiry into what happened to the DAIM online database, this time about Seidenfaden's Orchid collection.

As a proof of concept, I want to try to see how easy it would be to import the data in question into Specify so that it's available through there, our NHMD portal and GBIF.

Findings so far:

• Main app runs in folder /var/www/html
• File common/Db.php connects to database server
• Need to locate sql database ...

New findings:

• Database files located in folder /var/lib/mysql/
• MariaDB is installed and running
• PHP installed version 7.2
• Web server running, but PHP throws error: http://daimweb01fl.unicph.domain/

Created database dump and placed it in: N:\SCI-SNM-DigitalCollections\SalvagedDatasets\DAIM

Importing dump in local database for inspection.

Just looking at the seidenfaden data it seems relatively easy to import into Specify, but not without some data cleaning in OpenRefine... I could not find the associated pictures except for handful in folder seidenfaden-pictures/ that don't seem enough for the almost 22.000 records in the seidenfaden table. Strange...

Sree wants to know what happened to certain images. There were not a lot of images on the app server, nor in the database, so this is unclear. Will investigate more closely.

The digit server is still up as the below link shows, and I would really like file system access so we can easily transfer the media it contains. Many of the images formerly served by the now defunct DAIM server are still hosted there. However, I asked in the past, but never really was provided with access. The server has host name 00594.science.ku.dk and IP address 130.226.14.152

It turns out that the datatable "digit_typer_images" maps old catalog numbers to URLs on the Digit server.

I was able to retrieve the following URLs, but ideally, all these images should be added to Specify:
