Display taxon author in the full name of a taxon #258

  1. “Author” is missing both as a Specify field and in content, at least on the Collection Object page. I see the data is there when I add Determinations->Taxon->(any rank)->Author->Any to the query. This is über-important information for type specimens and should be added to collection object page. In fact I see the Greenland Herbarium data has the same issue.

Data on authors is stored in the database, but currently it’s not user-friendly to check it on the Collection Object form.

Preferred solution: displaying the author in the full name of the taxon.

Additionally, after upgrading our system to the newest version of Specify, it would be possible to show the Taxon author also in the tree viewer, which will allow the users to quickly identify which authority is associated with each taxon node.

I need to remember how this was accomplished in the test database and then transfer that to the live database.

I found the solution - dataobj_formatters.xml needed to be edited. Now the author is displayed in the full name of the taxon on the form, and it will be available also on taxon tree from Specify 7.8.5.
