Ichthyology labels #263

Open FedorSteeman opened 6 months ago

Label designs need to be added for Ichthyology so that staff can start using Specify for generating labels.

The label should show the following fields:

Proposed label design: Etiket eksempel

The following sizes should be available:

Label design may have to wait until we migrate and upgraded to the new servers #149

We could get fonts and other aspects of the labels to work on the new test server, so this looks promising.

Label draft works on the new server, so it's up to the Ichthyology staff to evaluate the labels that can be generated so far.

Reply from Mackenzie:

I checked things out, and I have a couple of comments to make. I don’t seem to be able to make any of these changes myself, but if I can do it, please let me know.

  1. Is there a way to write an ‘if/than’ loop when coding the collection date? In our system, start and end dates refer to the cruises whereas verbatim date is the actual collection date. The more useful one is the verbatim date, but we do not necessarily have that for all of the specimens. It would be useful to have it so that : collection date = verbatim date if verbatim date is TRUE, and if FALSE, use the start date.
  2. For the preparation, two lines would be good. One where spm= count, and a second where we have storage (ie. The room) listed
  3. Is it possible to have the species name underlined, or written so that it does not include the author of the determination?
  4. Many of our specimens are stored together. For this reason, I think that it may work better if we use ‘container’ rather than alt catalog number. I’m unsure how this will also affect the NHMD number.
