Current state:
In the first phase we can import the wet specimens along with corresponding information on drawings and slides, if any. A template was created and shared with the Botany collection to achieve this.
In the following weeks I would like to create a sample dataset in the test environment to show the different possibilities we have (having the drawings and slides as preparations; showing them as separate section on the registry form; displaying them in the notes…). But in the meantime, the Master students can work on the dataset to make it ready for import (e.g. collectors, determinations with higher taxonomy, dates, elevation…).
"Natasha has three masters students who arrived recently and will be looking at the Seidenfaden collection. Part of their task will be cleaning up the Seidenfaden database to get it ready for Specify. But as I don’t have a lot of experience with cleaning up databases ready for specify, and it’s quite a complicated database with different types of collections, I was wondering if you a) had some guidelines I could look at and b) would have time to talk, preferably early next week, to look at our current database and advise me on what format is most likely to work.
