The fabric enclosing the workstation is likely to be just as heavy as a lightweight hard casing and likely to keep heat in. It also creates fibres around the workstation and cannot easily be wiped. A hard, lightweight, wipeable alternative should be sought.
Pip comment on 17/09/2024: Lets move this for discussion at end of Q4 2024 (due to urgency of getting AU up and running)
It would be good if we could get a new barcode dispenser for Herb03. The one that is there is crinkling up the labels, so I switched it for the one from Herb01 for now, but for the future it would be great to have a proper one at each workstation.
Pip comment on 17/09/2024: @RebekkaML can you add this to operations/digitiser work for Q4
Astrid mentioned the desired for a thermometer that would be easier to read than our current thermometers in a Digitizer meeting.
We have experienced issues with the mice at WORKHERB0001

Chelsea comment on 18 Sept. New keyboards and mice should be at Herbarium C and these may solve the problem with the mice.
Of major note to this ticket would be the issues experienced in Aarhus at WORKHERB0002 that cause blurry and poorly lit images. https://github.com/NHMDenmark/Herbarium-Sheets-workstation/issues/121 As a remedy, a sturdy table has been ordered and AAU is in the process of getting back to me regarding the feasibility of the enclosure. If they give the go-ahead for an unadapted enclosure, we will be able to order material and follow the blueprint used for WORKHERB0001 & WORKHERB0003 and then make a plan to deliver it to them with lights this autumn.
Pip comment 17/09/2024: This is a priority for Q4 work. Just need an estimate of stages and approximate time needed.
Chelsea comment 18 September
Approximate timelines: 1/ If we plan to bring the WORKHERB0003 enclosure, clamps, safety wires and the extra lamps out to Aarhus, I estimate that it will take 2 days to get the materials ready, transported, installed and calibrated at AAU (worktime: 2+ work days for 2 people = 4+ work days). 1 full work day for a pair to go out to Priorparken and deconstruct the enclosure into smaller elements, get materials organized for transfer and make arrangements (including reserving the museum vehicle). 1 full work day for a pair to go out to Aarhus, construct the enclosure, set up the lamps, achieve even illumination.
2/ If we plan to order materials to construct a new enclosure for WORKHERB0002, I estimate that it will take 7 days to get the materials ready, transported, installed and calibrated at AAU (worktime: .5 work days for 1 person, 2+ workdays for 2 people = 4.5+ workdays): 5 days to order and receive materials (including aluminum extrusion profiles, clamps, safety wires, surge protectors) and make arrangements (access to metal shop, reservation for museum vehicle). (est. 1/2 day for 1 person) 1 full work day for a pair to get materials organized, cut the metal beams, and pre-assemble certain small elements. 1 full work day for a pair to go out to Aarhus, construct the enclosure, set up the lamps, achieve even illumination.
**(either of these options could be combined with a third Digitizer who could go and conduct some training with Charlotte at NHMA while the enclosure is being built at AAU. The next day, a Digitizer could stay and train Charlotte at AAU before driving / or taking the train home). (2+ work days)
No more requests for this ticket. The next available ticket for requesting new features/refinements etc is: https://github.com/NHMDenmark/Herbarium-Sheets-workstation/issues/127
Please create separate tickets for all agreed refinements/adjustments/features agreed here and link tickets into this one for reference. Once done, please close this ticket.
Please add requests for updates, refinements and new features for the three herbarium sheet workstations into this ticket.
These will be addressed and prioritised on a quarterly basis.
Next review will be on 17th September 2024 for work starting October 2024.
