Thermometers have been installed at both workstations. Matilde is pursuing speaking with Thomas (shop) about alternatives. Pip suggests a hole above the camera in the top of the fabric panel.
According to the instruction, the Fuji GFX100 ii can operate in an environment up to +40 °C
To be 100 percent sure, I have created an Excel sheet to monitor this behavior. This sheet is dedicated to detecting if there is a connection between the camera shutting off and the temperature inside the enclosures for the herbarium imaging workstations. Simply fill it out every time you experience the camera turning off mid-session. Also, remember to always turn off the camera and light panels during your lunch break.
The excel sheet is located on the N-drive: N:\SCI-SNM-DigitalCollections\DaSSCo\Workflows and workstations\Herbarium
and can be found as a shortcut on the desktops of the imaging workstation computers.
Rebekka writes in the issues log (nr. 86) "The camera at the Priorparken workstation overheated and froze. It could only be shut off by pulling out the power cable. This is probably caused by the stronger lights and rising temperatures in the Priorparken hall."
The temporary solution, as discussed on slack and in the Digitizer Meeting on 15.05.2024 is the following: "We will try shutting off the camera (and maybe also the lights) during lunch break to let it cool down. Keep monitoring the problem."
As Rebekka writes, the issue is likely caused by the heat of the lamps, summer temperatures at Priorparken and the nature of the flame retardant material the cover is created from.
