How to mark digitzed specimens in a dynamic and expanding collection #60

In future, Entomologists would like to have Digitizers place pins with 'Digitized' labels placed after the last specimen in a species in a unit tray. They do not want stickers or other markers (small slips of paper) on the outside of drawers since the collection is so dynamic and volunteers are constantly adding new specimens in drawers. (Unless a whole drawer that does not contain any space of expansion is digitized, then they think it could benefit from such a label)

Possible follow-up: Chelsea and Pip to discuss with Entomologists at section meeting.

Entomology Collections Mangers have suggested a system that they feel is best for marking digitized specimens and emaile dme about it today. We have almost finished digitizing Pyralidae specimens. They have gone back to these cabinets and

Once agreed upon, we will need to incorporate this into our workflow and as a follow-up, make edits to our documentation.

While the question of a mix of undigitized and digitized material being present in a drawer is up for discussion, Digitizers are marking the last digitized specimen in a unit tray and marking the outside of drawers and cans with the labels created by the CMs. This is primarily because it is quite quick to do while digitizing and much more time consuming to do after the fact.

As communicated in the June Catch-Up #76 https://github.com/NHMDenmark/Pinned-Insects-workstation/issues/76#issuecomment-2206029287

We would like to avoid skipping specimens for now in order to fully test the current model. This does not mean that the suggestion has been taken off the table completely, but that we want to fully explore the current methodology right now, before adjusting our workflow.

Digitizers will continue marking the last specimen digitized in a unit tray with the flags provided.
