22 February @chelseagraham and @Gomismis BROAD REQUIREMENTS OF ALICE (static Danish Beetle FOV set-up) What we want to achieve: 1/ Efficient, quick digitization with minimal interaction with a GUI • A GUI driving digitization where minimal clicks and configuration are necessary (one or two clicks per specimen, customized presets for specific cases or grouping of cameras) 2/ Minimal interaction with the specimen • Stage and camera array to support imaging of insects with labels-on (no time spent taking off labels) 3/ No extraneous physical movement by the digitizer • Ergonomic workspace for digitizer (no unnecessary repetitive motion) 4/ Safe environment for specimens • Smooth sledge movement (minimal vibration) 5/ Images of labels where writing is legible • Cameras at static, equidistant locations so focus can be locked • Images in-focus • Images high enough resolution to allow for OCR 6/ High resolution images of insects • Insect cameras at static, equidistant locations • Scale and Color Checker to be imaged separately from insect to keep FOV tight around subject • Stacked images or images with a depth of field deep enough to capture details from top to bottom of subject • Images in focus 7/ Color correct, scaled images • Use CH standards in color target and scale bar 8/ Good lighting • Ensure illumination is even

8 July: updated and shared with Kim, Pip, Bhupjit and Lars (the later two for discussion about Canon integration into entomoloGUI). After a few revisions/reorganizations, this can be shared with the entomology group.

I think we can share the document and invite comments. We will need to add a date column so that the date the requirements were agreed is noted. We should also clearly mark it as version 1. We will no doubt add requirements. This document should be separate from working notes and will be an official representation.
