Format String Option for Showing Error #26

I am trying to acquire string data from RS 232 communication protocol in NI VeriStand. When I configure data channel under Response> Message Group, under data setting>format string , string format is showing error. I used %s as the format string. 1

afaik, Veristand does not support strings
