Goal: measure the amount of water in vegetation using microwave observations. Options: Retrieval algorithm - water cloud model, all the water in the planet look like t=a cloud in the observation- good enough for soil moisture retrieval radiative transfer model: Land surface model - can handle all the physics. but we dont knw he affect on backscatter

Solution: so we want to use the land surface model to get an idea of the root zone, transportation, what is the planet doing, use ML to relate/map to ascat observation.
