This looks like a really good bugfix, not only for 1.8.1 but also for a bug that was already in ldns, because I guess there existed already an issue with multiple character whitespace before quoted rdata fields containing tabs, right?
Later today I'd like to have another good look before merging, but it looks really good and I'm very happy you found the issue, analyzed it so thoroughly and then also provided such an extensive fix including a tpkg test! Thanks again @FGasper !
