In this PR I took a look at the code coverage report for bacio.c and tried to fill in the gaps to touch as much code as possible.

When #61 and this PR are merged, we can look at code coverage again and see how I did. ;-)

OK, there's more testing that can be done, but this PR is ready to merge and brings the testing coverage up quite a bit (and test coverage is now working on github).
