missing diffraction in WW3 #1103

Hi, everyone! I have been using WW3 for ideal experiments recently, but when I checked the WW3 manual, I found that WW3 does not take wave diffraction into account. In comparison, SWAN does consider wave diffraction by a phase-decoupled method. Does anyone know how to account for wave diffraction in WW3? Alternatively, is the WW3 development team planning to introduce diffraction in the near future? Thanks in advance.

Dear Biao,

From what I know it is not implemented yet in WW3 but feel free to contribute if you want to add it based on SWAN development.

Best,

Hi @Biao-Zhao @mickaelaccensi We (ERDC team and @aronroland) have added diffraction approximation and tested it for HISWA wave tank and Vincent and Briggs experiments. It is in process of regression testing and integration into the main repo, first to erdc and then noaa. Stay tuned.
