The remote execution of workflow steps requires use of Globus Compute. There are two parts: the Globus Compute SDK which provides an API for submitting functions for execution on remote endpoints, and Globus Compute Endpoint which provides a CLI for creating and managing the endpoints' status (start, stop, list, etc). These tools needs to be installed into the official Chiltepin container and Spack environments.
