SOCAT: Difficult to see fCO2 scale values in zoomed-in crossover plot #1733

Closed karlmsmith closed 6 years ago

Reported by @karlmsmith on 31 Jan 2016 13:19 UTC

When I zoom in on the crossover between 49UF20120621 and PAT520120716 with Latitude as a function of Longitude, colored by fCO2 recommended, it becomes difficult to see the fCO2 values above the colorbar. Making the text size a bit larger would probably help a lot. Making the for-printing version helps a little, and the saved plot (attached) looks better, so not an accurate representation of what I first see.

Attachment from @karlmsmith on 31 Jan 2016 13:21 UTC saved croosover plot image - quite a bit clearer than what I see in the browser 0d09deb64b40092d24ca60966ad5848e_plot_image

Attachment from @AnsleyManke on 1 Feb 2016 20:13 UTC Larger color labels, the same plot (from data on dunkel) 1e024648a4851c3574741792cee9fdae_plot_image

Comment by @AnsleyManke on 1 Feb 2016 18:16 UTC The plot gets shown smaller than its full size which makes the text look worse. I'll look at increasing the size of the labels on the colorbar.

Comment by @AnsleyManke on 1 Feb 2016 20:18 UTC I've increased the size of the labels. The fix is in the SOCAT optimizations and is checked in on the socat branch. The same change should probably be made on the trunk for all of our horizontal color keys.

The prop-prop plots get squished because of the vertical layout of the html page. Viewing it with the Print button, or closing the annotations block helps with this.
